Okay, I have heard that the Waves gold bundle is the best around for Cubase and the like. I just don't like paying more for plugins than I did for the freakin program! If its that good, then so be it, I'll just go to the dollar general for christmas gifts. Are there any other packages comparable to that one? Does anyone think that Antares will bundle the Mic Modeler together in a plugin form like they did the hardware?

Actually my opinion is that the gold bundle is awsome but the effects use up major prcessor power, get a fast computer to run them or u can get aeffects pci card wich will run much smoother uses lesss processor power therefore less hickups, also less money...

Have you looked into the Universal Audio UAD-1 card for Windows or the TC Powercore for Mac and Windows. These are DSP cards that run fantastice plug-ins freeing up your other CPU resources to run other tasks like Virtual Studio Instruments.

Both cards sound great and interface like a typical VST plugin allowing the effects to be applied as expected.

Has anyone heard if either of these cards(power core,UAD) will get support from Waves. I really want the gold bundle but want to wait and see if it will be supported with cards such as these. I want a powerful bundle that wont kill my PCU...

The UAD-1 definitely won't support third-party programs, and Universal Audio has said as much. TC has "opened" the PowerCore's architecture for third-party developers, however I would expect to see purpose-buit plug-ins developed specifically for the card much more than I would expect Waves or anyone else to try to get their existing stuff to run in the partitioned environment of the PowerCore.

As far as plug-ins costing money, you really do get what you pay for, and sometimes, quality costs money, as ridiculous as the amount seems for a silly CD-ROM. To put it into perspective, Waves Gold costs about as much as a mid-level hardware multi-effects unit, and delivers much more. Considering the price drop versus quality and capability over the past, say, 4 years, I'll take it!

i wouldnt go for the TC WORKS POWERCORE PCI card....the effects/synths are that great...and for $900...pfffft...forget it!!

if you have to go with a PCI effects card, go with a Creamware card...Pulsars are amazing!!

but i def. suggest the Waves Gold Bundle...not too expensive but SOOOOO worth it!!

and i dont know what that guy was talking about it eating up CPU power...he must have like 10 effects out there on each track!! i can load usually 2 Waves plugins (c1 and ultramaximizer) on at least 10 tracks and be fine.
