Sorry for the uneducated question but i am very new to the recording world. I am building a computer strickly for recording and was wondering how much of a difference it would make if i went with a 2.2ghz vs a 3.2ghz. I will being using sonar 3 and the computer will have a gig of ram, two 50 gig hds, and ill be using the m-audio firewire 410. So should i spend the extra money and get a 3.2ghz or should i save it and spend it on better mics? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the board E.R.,

Nice to see ya here!....

I'd recommend getting the 2.2ghz........and if you wanna spend the money on your computer then get more ram.....otherwise you should get more mic's...

Where are you buying all your stuff?

Are you going to be doing this in your house or the club?

I ordered the computer parts from new egg and ended up getting it all for about 500.

The m-audio interface i order from here

This is stickly for a home studio. Once i decide what mixer i want I will start recording my bands shows live to 2-track. I think i will record the bands that we play with too and then try and sell them the copy of the show. Should be a good way to make a little extra money.

Um, I would like to spend less than 1000 on the mixer, but i need at least 12, maybe more, mic inputs and a direct out or low impedance out.

Things with bostons are not really existant. We played at PI a long time ago before they made the stage bigger. The last time i was there for a friends show i dropped off a promotion kit so hopefully i can get something set up. I dont think i know who RHS is? Should I?

What do you do out in Pheonix? Are you in a band or do you do sound?

I dont mind the questions at all.

Hey I just wanted to add a quick tidbit. When you get around 2Ghz the different between 2 and 3 is really negligable. This is due to a few reason, but mostly becuase you can only run as fast as your front side bus on the motherboard can process. (And 2.2 Ghz is way more than any fsb right now). I would recommend the 2.2 and spend the extra cash on extra goodies.
