Hey,

Got a Roland V-Session Kit (TD-10) in a whisper booth 7' X 7' X 7'. My monitors in the booth are 1029As. I'm finding that I can't get enough volume from the Genelecs on the low Toms or the Bass Drum without the speakers crapping out. I know it's not the board 'cause I can get plenty of volume through the headphones. Any suggestions?

1029's have little tiny woofers. It's possible you're feeding them more LF than they can handle. Try rolling off the bass and see if it gives you more clarity and more clean sound before clipping.

1029A's roll off at about 70 Hz, so there is a lot on the drum kit you may be missing. If there's room in the booth and the budget, you may want to consider a subwoofer.

I'm gonna buy the sub. I had forgotten that there was a sub available for this unit. I can hear the drums with the current configuration, but I can feel them.

The Genelec sub is 1091a but it is no longer in production. The replacement sub is called the LSE and it uses the identical driver component in a different box. Since the LSE's came out, I've seen 1091a's go for as little as 1 hundred bucks on eBay!

Thanks groove,

I'm still putting it all together, but I expect to be buying the sub in the next month or two.
