Sweet momma.
I listend to a pair of these things today...and it opened up a whole new world. I compared them to a pair of 824's and the 824's sounded like a tin can compared to these things....

Lacking a lot of bass though.......I was very dissappointed in the low freq response.

As you might know, I have a pair of S2A's, and I auditioned a pair of S2.5's back to back with my S2A's looking for more bass. There wasn't much more, and the midrange was a little different (slightly less pronounced) as well.

Still, any of the ADAMs are fabulous speakers, and it's still the best purchase I ever made.

What's really more important is that your monitors are working for you and helping your mixes to translate accurately. If they're doing that, they're doing exactly their job, whether they are Mackies, ADAMs, or whatever.

Don't diss your Mackies if they're helping you engineer better. Plenty of people are using them with great results.

I agree with this completely (I think I spelled that right).....

I have been a long time suporter of the 824's and was happy I could compare the 2......

My point really was not to "diss" the 824's.....they're great monitors and I've used them with success.....but to emphasize exactly how good I thought these monitors sounded.

I understand completely. I was just kidding! I knew that Randy likes the 824's. I just couldn't resist. People do get a little crazy when they're talking about their favorite monitors. I really like the Mackies but you can be sure if I had a commercial studio they would not be the only monitors I relied on. I really like reading you two. I've learned allot and I appreciate it. I don't know where else an old dude like me (50) could get so much good information. I'll continue reading!

We have a pair of the S2.5A's in our main studio here. They do sound phenomenal, and I hear things through them I've never heard before.

However, I don't feel too bad that they sound better than my Mackies do, considering they're three or four times the price...

I went to visit a university yesterday, and they have 824's in most classrooms for presentations...Regular old history classrooms.
I'm thinking that some JBL control series would do the job almost as well, and be much more durable. And less expensive.
And then, maybe they could lower the tuition a bit...
