Hello. I currently use a Roland VS1880. I have decided to go with a full-on PC system and sell my Roland. At this point I am looking at the Pro-tools Digi 001. I'm fairly well versed in the world of audio production - just not with PC systems. I'm looking for any feed back that you may have. I am running with some very fast Athlon PC systems. Thanks a lot Carl finalcut@gci.net

Carl,
Welcome to the forums here at Sweetwater! I am a long-time PC guy myself, in fact I had a couple of VERY powerful Athlon systems. There are many advantages to a Digi001 with Pro Tools LE (besides good sound, lots of features, ease of use, etc).... Did you purchase the PC first to do digital audio? There are many benefits of using a Digi001 on the Macintosh, mainly because that is where a vast majority of the RTAS plugins are at. The Digi001 works great on the PC, assuming you're PC is properly designed and setup for audio. How old of an Athlon system do you have? There have been known issues with Athlons and audio hardware for quite some time, but the latest systems are pretty much okay... Are you presently a customer of Sweetwater?
What sort of questions do you have?

Finalcut,
I've been a lifetime PC fan, and die-hard anti-macite. On my recommendation, my church just purchased a G4/733/640MB Ram / 60GB HD with a 001 and the Waves native bundle.
Though it's taking some getting used to, I'm finding the transition from PC to MAC fairly painless and the use of the 001 easy. As with any new software / hardware there is a learning curve, and I'm definitely on it now. However, the boys at Sweetwater (Nika / Matt) have been extremely helpful and willing to answer all my questions. Speaking from experience, you've picked the right company and are certainly looking at the right interface!
Good luck!

finalcut,
if it's possible get the digi001 and KEEP the roland. Only for the fact that it's easier to record on location with and then you can dump the tracks into protools. If you don't think you'll need to then sell it, but keep in mind you never know what your next project will want to do.
