What's the latest thing you've gotten?

I really don't mean this to be a bragging thread (Really!), but it's been a good week for gear.

I just got a Soundelux U99 today (used but mint, for $1800!). I also picked up another Daking 91579 compressor, which is on it's way (which will give me a pair). Also, we got an Apogee AD-16x and a DA-16x at the studio this week.

Wish every week was like this one. They ain't, unfortunately.

Can't you read properly??? Michael said this is NOT a bragging thread!!! ...and the fact you really did purchase these things doesn't change you're supposed to be nice, kind and modest here!!!!! You just shamelessly display your materialistic way of thinking! Have you ever even been in love?? OK, you can still get away with this - send me the M149 one Distressor and the DBX! Do you have a few Royers too?

All of you are in some way and form responsible for my spending spree!!!

Seriously, you have all played a part in my choice of equipment. And I also thankyou very much for your valuable time and information in helping me make the right choices!

I am sorry if I appeared to brag, but I am very excited with my latest purchases and could not contain myself in sharing it with you!

Thank You All Once Again!

I'm jealous but at the same time I know how incredibly hard it is to use all the heaps of gear in a way that produces sound which is great or even better. Don't get distracted and I hope you'll let us know once you have some samples to share, Marc. Must feel special to work surrounded by such premium equipment. Enjoy!

Apogee AD-16x & MOTU 2408 = the best thing I have ever spent money on. Hands down.. screw my college education.

What else..

Sennheiser E609 which is decent.

Maybe a Presonus Central station on Tuesday... maybe.

A 1-gang faceplate and backbox to build a two-input mic snake. Yeah, I know, real sexy. Before that it was a Mojave Audio MA-2 upgrade kit (aftermarket tube electronics for an MXL 2001-P condensor mic)...can you tell I like to solder?

Last time I bought something gloat-worthy was 4 or 5 months ago, a Tascam 130 cassette deck. On second thought, a cassette deck isn't really very gloat-worthy, is it? Jeez, it's been a long time since I've bought anything cool!

Oh wait: I just bought an apartment! Ha! Take that!

That is one of the main reasons the CD's that get radio play sound the way they do. IMHO

Looks like cork or brown carpet to me, if you are talking about the booth. Carpet seems the more likely answer, but you never know.

Thanks to some effort reallocating assets, i was able to spring for a new mic without investing any additional capital into my gear fund. Also ordered a new preamp, but that hasn't arrived yet.

But, today, i became the proud owner of an iFet7 microphone. It sounds even better than i remember it, but i don't have very good timbre retention so the memory may have deteriorated over time.

It came a day early, but it didn't have any tootsie rolls in it :( Laffy Taffy is a step up from hard candy, though.

I was hoping to play with it on a bunch of different sources before work, but i've been stuck on the first thing i picked up. This is BY FAR the best microphone i've ever used on my Tacoma CB-10 acoustic bass. Both modes are cool, but the "i" mode simply "ownz." It has been recorded through most of the standard LDCs in the past, but the iFet7 is completely unique. Woody thump while minimizing fret noise. Yum.

I did take a few minutes to use it on my voice, and it was good. i mode makes me sound like i have VO talent (albeit i need to start smoking). V mode was also quite flattering. I haven't done an a/b with anything yet, so it may just be the newness to my ears that the judgement is based on.

Can't wait to try it out on FoK this weekend, as that was the primary factor for this choice. With any luck, it will be even better than i remember.

That is too cool. I have one ISA220. Would like another. My latest purchase was a Strobo Stomp guitar/bass tuner. It's the best thing I've ever seen for tuning and it's a DI box too. I Loves it.

PS I've thought about adding one of those 428's though instead of another 220. I only record my own songs so it's difficult to spend money I'm not making. If only someone would record one of my songs!!!!!I'm trying. Iv'e been submitting stuff to Taxi for a while. That's allot of fun and if you're not too sensitive you can learn allot from their critiques.

My old monitor (computer monitor that is) just crapped itsself on friday as I was preparing for an overdub session with a bass player. Once I had decided it was the 7 year old 17" CRT monitor and not my graphics card, I was not as bummed. I made the short trip to Best Buy and picked up a 19" LCD flat panel with analog and DVI inputs. Once the band pays their tab... I can see a second one in my future...

Sorry to change the subject briefly, but has anyone else used Taxi? Has anyone had or heard about people having any actual success with it? I heard about it for the first time today and found it interesting. As for my latest piece of gear, I just bought a used m-audio oxygen 8 midi controller for $85 Canadian. I'm also going to be buying a kick drum mic this week hopefully.
