I picked up a used IBM aptiva computer that does not work from a garage sale last week for free. It has a PCI sound card that I want to take out and install in my computer. Problem is I cannot ID the board so I can obtain the drivers.

Any suggestions???? The back of the board has a rectangular white label with what looks like two rows of scanner type bars. Like they use for purchases in retail stores?

The following is on the white label

AUDIO I/O BD
03K0318
55 54204 001
S/N 7131952 A1 S

ON THE BOARD ITSELF
AFO7
UNIC3 94V-O
056117A41

Tom,

The audio card you're referring to is an IBM build that came stock in the Aptiva. The closest thing I could find for device drivers is this:http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&q1=Aptiva+2136&uid=psg1PMYS-3JYPE6&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&cc=us&lang=en

This is a self-expanding file that should search for the drivers, and update or install them. If it doesn't you may need to contact IBM's tech support directly, and they should be able to hook you up.

Also, if you are running WinXP (or possibly even Win2k), chances are excellent that the OS will be able to come up with a working generic driver, as it seems the audio card was pretty widely used in IBM products, and for a long life cycle.
