ProTools 24 or Digi 002 what's better

Am planing to get a new audio system but i don't know to choose it both Protools 24 or Digi 002

Protools 24 (used)come with
D24 Card and two DSP Farm Card + 888 I/O

The D/24 card is a old Digidesign PCI card. It was Digi's "core" card pre-dating Mix systems. As you're probably aware Digi has long since discontinued production of Mix systems. My point here is this D/24 card is well over two generations old. Further the "DSP" farm cards you mentioned are not only two generations old but they were no where near as capable as the later "Mix" farm cards.

The D/24 system, while still consider TDM, was only capable of 32 tracks maximum. I can't recall definatively but I seem to recall D/24 DSP Farm system were NOT capable of surrond


The computer you would use would ultimately also have to be considered in this decision.


I'm not entirely sure but I'd be willing to bet that the PCI architecture used on the D/24 card won't work in the current G5's and I'd also be willing to bet that support (both with Digi and third party developers) for software/hardware issues is either gone or about to be gone.


I sure it wouldn't be long, if not already, you would be horrible "stuck" with an out dated system.
