What's the benefit to using a Glyph Firewire hard drive, over any other brand of firewire external hard drives? Glyph costs almost twice as much.
Other people may chime in with more, but here's what I can think of off the top of my head:
1. They are the only company packaging this type of drive who has any understanding of what we are doing with them.
2. They have amazingly good tech support (see #1). They have a ton of different DAW systems in house to recreate customer scenarios and do testing.
3. Their drives are certified to work with the stuff we do (see #1 and #2). They sometimes have special ROM's that make them work better, or in the case of FireWire drives (which are just IDE drives with a special "bridge" to Firewire), they sometimes have special "stuff" (sorry I don't remember what "stuff" is on this one) that make them work better. For example, their MProject drive is currently the ONLY drive approved by MOTU to be used with the 828.
4. They have amazing support...oops, already said that. But seriously, if your drive fails they'll have another one to you in a day (see #1 again).
