Well, I was thinking of getting some tables. Probably some higher end Stanton's. Does anyone know of a place where I can buy rap and hip-hop records for cheap? Or, where I can CD's converted tp vinyl for cheap?

Thanks.

They should have plenty of local shops in Houston that carry plenty of vinyl. Also check pawn shops and thrift stores..never know what kinda diamonds you can find in the rough right?

Ok. Thanks.

Another thing. Someone told me to stay away form the Numark tables inthat they're crap. Is this true?

Do a search on the net. Also in sum bookstores that carry vinyl you could run into one here and there. If your looking to sample to make your own beats bookstores, salvation army are the way to go.

Whoever told you that probably got a cheap Numark.
Numark makes some nice stuff, IMHO.

Don't get belt drive, though.

The only tables I've ever used or liked are the 1200's. The Stanton straight arm tables are pretty good also and if I had to choose something other than 1200's I'd get those.

If you're getting something other than 1200's just make sure if anything that they're gear driven. That's going to make the biggest difference. Also check the start/stop times as this can have a great effect on mixing...

i'm actually about ready to buy a new turntable myself, however i don't really have any need for all the bells/whistles that a lot of the DJ tables pack into them, i'm only really interested in sound quality as i sample a lot of old vinyl. does anyone have any opinions on some of the turntables that have spdif? if any of them contain high quality converters i'd almost rather go for something like that..
