Hey, I am running a 002r with a 2gig g5. I also own a roland vs2480cd which with its new OS is compatible as a control surface to protools. I have the Set up complete on the roland. and the two are linked via midi. I went to the AMS in protools and went to new device but did not see the roland vs2480. i know under the midi control setup I am supposed to put HUI since the roland now has a HUI emulator. should i do that in the AMS too?? also would i be able to use the 16 inputs on the roland simultaniously to record onto protools? thanks

are you sure you can link them? If so you'll need more than midi to send audio from one to another.
I don't think you can use both at the same time, but I could be wrong.

i talked to both digidesign and roland, and i can link them. I have a roland ae-7000 which is an r-bus to aes/ebu converter. the big thing is is that I want to be able to use all the inputs on my roland especially for drums, 4 and even 6 with my preamp just isnt enough. but the 002r only has 4 inputs and i just dont have the money to go spend a thousand dollars on another preamp.

You won't be able to use the inputs on your roland to redord because midi only sends directions, not audio data.
