Just wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a mixer that would be compatible with the new Mac G5 (with PCI-X slots not PCI) for a small band interested in recording and digitally mixing original songs. I know it will not be inexpensive but cost is somewhat of an issue. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

I think you're asking what audio interface would be compatable.
MOTU's (Mark of the Unicorn) FireWire interfaces and PCI424 based interfaces would be my first choice for compatability/performance. Comes with AudioDesk software which is a stripped down version of Digital Performer so you can get going right away. If you don't have your CPU yet, any New Apple CPU purchased from Tuesday last on comes with GarageBand software, an audio recording/looping/softsynth/guitar modeling application which looks really cool for just what you're wanting to do and it exports directly to iTunes if you like.
