I was just about to purchase a Roland VS2480 last week when I received word that the new AKai DPS24 is actually supposed to be shipping sometime soon.

Anybody got a chance to play with this unit yet at any of the consumer shows. How does it stack up?

I'm also a little concerned with the Roland units because many people seem to be having major problems with their units centered around the HD's and the LCD screen.

Any help, info, or other places I could find information would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have been using a loaded Roland VS 2480 and CDR II Rackmount since it was released in May. I did have a couple of minor glitches until the 1.22 version software update was released and since then, I have had no problems. I think the huge advantage to the Roland, is the dramatically higher level of continued customer support after the sale. Roland is committed to the VS series, and it is a time tested and proven format that just sounds great. There's no reason, with the proper acoustic environment and tracking technique, that you could not produce totally professional recordings. I have been extremely pleased with mine, and I think you would be too.
