Help me decide on upgrade...

I need help deciding if I need to upgrade to CW Sonar.

I record strictly analog signals (acoustic guitar, mandolin, upright bass, dobro, vocals etc.). The 64 tracks I get with Pro Audio 7 are plenty for me.

Do I need to upgrade to Sonar, or are most of the bells and whistles of more use for the folks recording MIDI signals?

Earl - it sounds like you are OK where you are at. Some things you may want to consider are new mics & pre-amps...
which leads me to another question - what audio card are you using??

If you can get what you want done with Pro Audio, you don't NEED to upgrade. SONAR does have automatable FX and maybe other things that are great for audio use. It would be a shame to think that there were no audio upgrades from Pro Audio 7 to SONAR 2.0.

Does Pro Audio 7 support DirectX plug-ins or have some sort of plug-in architecture? That could be pretty important if you want to do all of your work in Cakewalk or just don't have any other software to process your audio with.
