We play medium venues and I get the feeling I am hauling way more amps, eq's than I need to. I am new at running sound so please type slowly. I have 1 crown ce2000, 1 crown ce1000 and 1 crown 402. I have 1 CVega Sub (750watts), 2 floor monitors and most of the time only use 2 15 mains although I have 4. (breath) I have 5 EQ channels-3 for vocals 1 for drum and one is just attached. I also run the BBE Sonic Maximizer for a full system EQ on main insert. DBX 2chnl comp/gate for vocal. Behringer 4ch gate for drums. Behringer xover. OK now, can I get close to full potential and reduce # of amps, eq's, BBE, gates? I run MONO. Thanks in advance. Your kindness will most likely go unnoticed but not by me.

WOW!!! you're new to sound and you have all that stuff?! Whoa! My band uses a Yamaha EMX 3000 powered mixer and 2 12" mains. I haven't been anywhere yet that it wasn't too big. I don't see why you need all those amps. I mean, hey... Give your back a break :)

just my 2 cents,
Nick

The only way you are hauling too much gear is if you leave some at home and are still happy with your sound:)

There is a time when you have 'too much' gear, but that's when I leave what I won't need in the trailer!

Given your rig, it doesn't seem like you are dragging around too much overkill. I sure wouldn't take any less in the way of amps (ever lost an amp during a show?), and cutting down the processing won't save much in the way of weight or space, at least noticeably.

Thanks Michaelhoddy for the straight answer. I guess I'll keep on hauling the full buttload.:bounce:
