I want to make some improvements to my monitoring system, to the tune of roughly $300. I'm currently running an Alesis RA-100 amp w/ a pair of Tannoy Proto-Js. I know that Tannoy has a good reputation and Alesis a fairly mediocre one. So my question is this: would a significantly better amp improve my sound more than slightly better speakers? Or vice-versa? Would getting the Tannoy Reveal passives be a significant step-up over the Protos? Even w/ the Alesis amp?
