Digi002 Rack for DI use

Does anyone know if the inputs 1-4 of the Digi002R can be used for DI recording of electric guitar & bass? I'm looking to upgrade from my 001 and also to simplify my setup. I'd like to ditch my Presonus DigiTube (which I currently use for DI). I was looking into getting a Trackmaster to use for a front-end, but am not really sure that I'd need it if I upgrade to the 002R. I could use plug-ins for comp/eq.
