After a long uphill learning curve with Logic Platinum on my PIII 1000mz box, I've finally got some decent sounding tracks. BUT, when I try to add effects (PlatinumVerb & other "built in" reverb type effects), I get a processor overload message. I'm not doing a symphony, but a pretty simple acoustic arrangement of some hymns. About 8 audio tracks in a song lasting less than 3 minutes.

Have I hit a bottleneck? (if so, why put all those great effects and multiple effects insert capabilties if you can't use them?)

Is there something I can do to relieve the strain on the processor in my computer's configuration?

Is a dual processor upgrade a good idea?

Any help appreciated! Thanks in advance...

OK, I talked to Alexander, and I think we got to the bottom of the problem. I was inserting reverb on every channel instead of sending it to the bus. A little reconfiguring, and now I can play back the entire song without interruption, with effects on each channel.

verb on every channel?
Damn, no wonder you were maxed out. Remember,
reverb is a very procesor-intensive plugin, more
so than dynamic fx, for instance. If you still run out of processing power, open your tracks in an
audio editor(soundforge, wavelab etc.) and "burn"
your fx into the track(warning, you will have to
save the track after you do, so this is a destructive edit) You can then remove the realtime plugin from that track, freeing up some processing power.
