I have been getting some dirt in my audio recordings on a machine I put together recently, and have not been able to resolve the problem. Anything that I record is at some point or another receiving strange digital distortion. Here is my setup:
AMD Tbird 900/Abit KT7
256MB RAM
Ultra-ATA 20Gig devoted to Audio
Ultra-ATA 6Gig devoted to OS/Apps
Windows Me
Delta 1010/Driver version 4.1.22.27
LAP 4.6.1/MAudio EASI Driver
The signal comes from recording my Nord Lead2 and also from any microphone which I first run through the Presonus BlueTube PreAmp.
The 'dirt' is not in the audio as it is monitored, it only appear upon playback. It does not seem to be related to the level, as even very soft signals distort (albeit, softer). It also does not appear to be a performance issue as it occurs with just one track.
If anyone has experienced a similar problem or can provide any insight I would greatly appreciate it. I have not been able to receive any decent help from MAudio concerning this. This has plagued my recordings for long enough!
