Dp3.1 Midisport 2x2 Dr770 Sync Help!

I have a client that has brought his DR770 to as session and i want to sync it to DP.
I have a midisport 2X2.
i have sucessfully set up OMS (i think) i can cycle through the sounds of the Drum Machine in the Test Studio mode of OMS.
but when i play a Sequence in DP the drum machine doesn't do anything.
i have selected "send midi timecode", but to no avail!
what am i doing wrong?
i am planning on recording a stereo AUDIO track of the drums, so i am not concerned about MIDI getting back to the computer.
i simply want to start the drum machine at the top of the sequence.
i have gone through my DP manual, but it is fairly difficult to navigate when it comes to details.
could it be the settings of the drum machine?
as you can tell i am a MIDI novice.
anyone with input would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the drum module is sending/receiving midi and DP is sending/ receiving midi. Next, create a new midi track and write a few notes at the beginning of the track to trigger the module, or let another midi track already recorded trigger the module. This could help if the meter varies.

You did not say if the music bed is done to a click track. That presents other problems if not. IF the meter is fine, the above should work.

I can not help you with DP nomenclature. I use Pro Tools.

I am sure there are other ways, but I have used this before.
