ok, so i've got a gina20 (the original one, the one distributed by event, whether or not that makes a different) and i've got the 2000 beta drivers and yeah, i'm running windows 2000. i install them... and they don't work. everything tells me that they should be: device manager says the device is working fine and the drivers are installed properly.

yet, when i attempt to playback in winamp, a) no sound comes out, and b) playback is *extremely* jerky and slow. the same goes for windows media player. hang ups occur when i attempt to open fruity loops 3 and sound forge 4.5c. i haven't tried running games with it yet, however, but i expect similar results.

system:

amd tbird 900
abit kt7a mobo (kt133 chipset)
256mb ram
gina 20
ibm deskstar 60xp 40gb drive (brand new)
clean, first time install of win2k w/ sp2

respond asap, please

thanks

your problem could posibly be your processor, chipset, and/or your OS. AMD has glitches with all kinds of audio, wiether it be a jukebox program or recording and win 2000 also has reported problems as well. Your best bet is to go with a PIII, intel chipset and windows 98 Second edition or win ME. I know the processor and shipset are normally more expecsive but if you want audio you pretty much have to go that way.

yup, after much scouring of the net, i eventually caved and went back to win98. as much as i prefer 2000 over 98, having audio was more important.

*sigh*

oh well.

See if there is an option to use MME drivers instead of WDM, I know some cards don't support WDM (which is some low latency thing introduced in win2k)

I didn't see if you mentioned what software you are using but I've had this problem with SonarXL/Win2k and Motu2408
