I have a Midiman 2044 that I've used sucessfully for years on a Win98 SE machine running Cakewalk Pro Audio. I upgraded from an Athlon 800 W/512 megs of PC-133 RAM to an Athlon 1.4 gig with 256 Megs of PC-2100 DDR RAM. All other components are the same except for the CPU/mainboard/RAM in this PC. The problem is that now in Cakewalk my recorded audio has pops and clicks that get worse when I add tracks. The CPU and disk meter in Cakewalk will show only 1% when this problem starts. I can still play old projects that have 30 or more tracks with plug-ins running with no problem, so I don't think that it's a playback problem. I'm wondering if it is either a PCI controller problem with my new mainboard (Asus A7M), or if the Midiman can't handle a processor that's this fast. Anyone have any ideas?
