I think I have seen a couple for about $10000 used and mostly around 15k new....

Price usually varies between about $15K and $20K depending on what kind of I/O you have it configured with...

As for why they're so popular...there are several reasons. Most important, they sound great...most people I've talked to have spent time with them think they sound better than the other digital consoles out there. Not surprising considering their heritage...they're also very easy to use. The touchscreen and dedicated channel control section make things very easy. They're also very expandable...lots of I/O options with more coming out all the time, and there have been several significant OS upgrades in the few short years the board's been out. Even though it's not the cheapest digital mixer out there, for the price it really is a steal...
