8 channel mic pre under $1K

are there any good quality 8 channel mic pre's out there that run under a grand? I've been looking at the digimax, and SM audio (not possitive on the name.)

focusrite octapre. problem is, you end up spending about as much as the digimax buying cables and such. the digimax is ready to go out of the box. have you looked at the digimax lt?
