I would like to help a friend with a very minimal set up-Rudimentary sequencing and notation. He has a Performa 475 (pizza box) Mac and a Yamaha PSR 340. Is is possible at this late date to get a serial MIDI interface and sequencing and notation software that will work with this antique computer?

I just tried versiontracker.com to see if there was any free/shareware available, but their search engine is froze temporarily.
Your best bet at finding a serial 9 pin midi interface would be to call, or email MOTU, M-Audio or other manufacturers to see if they have any old stock. who knows what might be lurking around at Sweetwater?

Watch Ebay, Midi Translator II show up there pretty regular, and they go cheap. Then look for EMagic, by Logic Audio. For basic things it should work great. I have used classics, powerbook 150 and a Quadra to do the same thing in the past. Have Fun.
