View Full Version : A vs. C rating on bd meter
Does anyone know what the difference is between A and C ratings on a db meter?
Check it out:

Basically C weighting is designed to emulate how our ears perceive sound at higher volumes. It makes the meter more sensitive at high and low frequencies.
If I am trying to accurately measure the volume of a room during a live performance how should my meter be set. I have a little hand held radio shack meter. It has A / C and slow / fast reponse. I always set it at C slow.??????
C is the correct setting for your application.
