I use cubase SX to mix in ….. not the soundcraft.

I have an 8 channel TRS snake going from the direct outs of the mixer going to the 8 inputs of the 2408.

I have channel 1&2 (L&R) out of the 2408 going into input 11&12 of the mixer to monitor through.

I have Aux1 of the mixer going to a headphone distribution amp, and main output of the mixer going to powered monitors.

I would like to add effects from the m300 to a pre recorded channel in SX during mix for the final mixdown

You can route from the channel that you want the m300 to effect. Take that channel, for example snare, and route form the snare channel aux 1 to a group cahnnel in Cubase. Enable more than one output bus in Cubase. Then route the extra output bus to the input of your m300 (you will have to send it through the MOTU first. return the m300 to a channel on the MOTU, and record it into cubase as if it were any other instrument.

1 - channel aux to group
2 - group to secondary main output in Cubase
3 - secondary main output assigned to some MOTU output
4 - MOTU output to m300
5 - M300 out to MOTU input
6 - record this input as an audio track

You will most probably have a serious latency though from this whole process, so you will probably have to manually line up your new track with your other tracks.

On an off note, why use external effects such as the m300? That is a pretty cheap unit, and in my experience, even just the stock on board reverbs etc... sound better and are far more editable than the TC m300. Just a thought:)
