MOTU XT and midi config

I'm using MOTU express XT w/ Sonar (+ sound module and master keyboard) and I don't know how I can connect to it my MIDI gear so that:
- Midi channels 1-16 can play sounds from my master keyboard and,
- Midi channels 17-32 can play sounds from my sound module.

The only way I can hear (interchangeably) these sounds is when I go to MOTU control pannel (I'm also using 828 interface) and swich between monitoring channels 3 & 4 are for my sound module and 5 & 6 for my master keyboard. Unfortunately I can not hear them at the same time w/out these constant modifications. Is there a way around this?

Well, there are no MIDI channels 17-32. You have MIDI channels 1-16 on 8 different ports. You should connect your devices to diffent ports on the XT. When you want to drive your sound module with your master keyboard, set the XT to "Live Keyboards" and when you want to split them up, set the XT to Sequencer 30 fps.

As for what you hear when, you either need to somwhow merge your channels in the 828 for monitoring purposes or get a mixer so you can monitor multiple channels.
