I have a Midisport 4X4 midi interface running on a Toshiba 5200 series Notebook with WinXP. When i first installed the latest drivers from their website (it's a USB2.0 connection) everything worked great. Then, a few weeks later i bought a 4 port USB hub so i could hook up a bunch of other commponents. When i hooked up the Midisport to the USB hub and rebooted my computer, my computer came up with the "Add new hardware" wizard cause it didn't regonize the Midisport....

So i used the suplied software to unistall the Midisport drivers, then reinstalled them with the Midisport connected to my USB hub. Now it's just acting wierd....

When i bootup, it still comes up with the "Ad new hardware" page, but when i let it try to look for the drivers to continue with the install, The "Ad new hardware" wizard can't find them and asks to look on the internet. But, if i then unplug the Midisport USB cable and plug it back in it installs fine (fine meaning the computer knows what it is and doesn't display the "Ad new hardware" wizard) but i won't work at all.

Any Sugestions?

Not all USB devices work when hooked up to a USB hub. Nice, huh??? So much for equipment standards....

Actually the problem is that some devices draw their power from the USB connector. And some hubs do not pass along that power.

So you either have to get a USB hub that DOES work with powered devices, or just hook up the Midisport directly to the laptop when you want to use it.
