PB G3 500 running DP3

I havn't quite had the luxery of doing this yet,... but i will.
Was wondering how much can you bog down this baby (PB G3 500/256/20 intHD) with DP3?
what if I max the RAM and add a firewire HD?

Aaron,

Your G3 will perform well with Digital Performer 3. The real CPU abuse comes from running lots of power-hungry plugins. Let me offer you some tips:

Having an external hard drive is a great idea, but I don't know if FireWire offers enough throughput to make it a good external recording drive option. You might want to try installing large capacity (20 GB or higher) internal ATA drives to record on, and reserve your FireWire drives for storage.

Get plenty of RAM. Not so much for DP3, but plugins and other add ons will eat up memory.

To avoid extension conflicts, use Conflict Catcher or Extensions Manager to create a trimmed down System Folder, using only those extensions critical to the recording process. Reboot to your trimmed down System Folder for recording.
