What gear is ok to buy used?

Hi, I was wondering what gear would be ok to buy used. I know some gear isn't good to buy used, because it rusts over time. If someone could help me on this topic it would be helpful, because I don't want to buy a mic or something used if it wouldn't be worth it. I am currently looking into buying a stomp effect box. For most gear, buying used is ok. BUT; you need to make sure it's in good working condition. Caveat emptor. Let the buyer beware. Make sure to avoid scams. Use common sense. Read the description thoroughly. Make sure you know what you are getting. a good place to pick up used stomp boxes is guitar center used.
