Is anyone else having this problem? I have the 24i/o, Dual 1Ghz Mirrored Door Mac, 1.5 GB of ram. When I exit out of DP3 my computer freezes and I have to hold in the power button to turn it off. Any Ideas???
Thanks

Have you dissabled the Apple Audio Extension? This seems to have done it from others users posting at the Apple Discussion boards.

No but I will try, how do I do it, I'm new to Macs. Thanks

Apple Menu
Control Panels
Extension Manager

Go down through the list of Extensions, and when you come accross the Apple Audio Extension, simply deselect it with the box.

Always glad to help out a MacNewbie

Hey Jayro, are you using any midi devices? are you using OMS insted of Free Midi? if you are i think i know the problem. I had the same problem of freezing when i got out of DP3 and i had to do with my MIDI setup. Go into Free Midi and go to configure, and set it to USE OMS WHEN AVAILABLE and ALLOW OTHER APPILCATIONS. This will let OMS work when you click Free MIDI in DP3.

This worked for awhile with me but now ive been using a MIDI device and it freezes only after i use it but not when i dont. So im still working on how to fix it but im about 1/2 way there. I think that DP3 in general doesnt like to work with OMS so it messes up when you quit. What im thinking is if i reconfigured my MIDI setup to Free MIDI before i quit it might not freeze.

Like i said im still trying to fix it and MOTU never seems to help. But i really hate shuting down manualy so i'll do my part and you do yours and hopefully we'll fix the problem.

If this wasnt you problem sorry for writing so much.

Are you using FreeMIDI 1.48, which is the latest version? It pretty much sucks. I had a crash-on-quit problem with DP and my TC PowerCore, and retrograding back to FreeMIDI 1.47 fixed the problem.

I am actually using OMS. I think I have fixed the problem, I removed every extension except the ones needed to run DP. So far no hang ups.
Thanks

Bottom line: DP does not like OMS, why else would it ship with free MIDI?

I only wish i could get my drum machine to work with Free MIDI and NOT OMS.
