In another Sweetwater thread discussing the E-MU 1616M, Patchmix, Windows OS, etc.,
the comment was made that, "Above 48k the ASIO host goes from 32 down to 16".
Can anyone explain this to me? I assume 32 and 16 are bit rates. The converters record audio
at 24 bits and the processing depth of the 1616M is advertised to be 32 bits.
When recording above 48k, it sounds like 16 bits in depth get lost somewhere along the way (?).
If so, where, when, and why is processing depth lost? And, how can it be avoided?
I hope someone can help me with this.
Thanks
