I am an 83 year old man who has been singing non-profesionaly all my life. Before I lose my voice entirely, I would like to record some of my songs on CD's to give to my grandchildren so they will have something to remember me by... Is there any inexpensive software that I could use to do some recording with my computer? I would need something with special effects, like music played in a large auditorium, or church, or stadium etc... It should be able to adjust reverb, relative volume between music and voice. It would be nice if it could be used to adjust tempo and/or pitch of the accompaniment.. It would also have to be compatible with Windows 7, 64 bit. I already have the backup music on my hard drive, the microphone, the mixer/amp., and the input connections for the same into my computer. I have tried Audacity but it doesn't have the special effects that I would like and it doesn't work too well with Windows 7. I can, however, use it if nothing better is available..

Thank you in advance for reading this and for any advice that you may have.

Best buy is Reaper. Free download and only $40 to buy it. Its got everything except a score editor and you can use the free muse score for that. It has several plug ins that come with it and continues to run with a nag screen if yoou go over the 30 day trial. If its too complicated get the book recording for the home musician which has cd with it on it.

There really isn't anything out there to compare at this price.
