I'm getting into notebook recording/editing/cd burning. I've got the laptop for the job (Windows XP), but I'm not clear on the midi capabilities in Pro Tools LE. I can't imagine this software not offering midi sequencing but I see nothing mentioned in adds, not to mention the interface not including a midi in or midi out. What gives? What alternatives or go-arounds do I have if I need to mix audio and midi? The M box seems like such a cool idea for portability sake, especially when it includes the Focusrite pre-amps.

Thanks

MIDI is included in the software. You just need to add a MIDI interface to the system. There are several that will work well, which one just depends on your needs. It would be a good idea to talk to a Sweetwater Sales Engineer to nail down what would be best for you.

Hi I was wondering something, what are the major differences between the M-box and the digi 001? because I dont need any midi and most of my stuff is just two instruments. Thanks for the help-

The digi 001 is a pci-card based interface, that works with PC and Mac desktop systems. The mbox is usb based. Both use the same software environment, Pro Tools LE and can edit 24 or 32 tracks depending on the software version.
They support midi, but midi is usually handled by a second device called a midi interface. The mbox is limited to 2 inputs at a time, whereas the 001 has 8 inputs.
