Cubase SX freeze with MIDI

I have Cubase SX and recently the program freezes about 50 seconds into recording but it is only when I record midi and audio simultaneously. I use a Presonus Firestation into a 800 Mhz Pentium III. I thought it might be due to lack of hard drive space (my 40 gb was full) so I bought an 80 gb firewire hard drive. So storage space is not the problem. I just don't know where to begin!! Somebody else emailed me about a similar problem running Cubase SX on his laptop with a firestation.

im having the same freeze problem with cubase VST 5.1 with MIDI,
even when audio is not involved!

my system is a pentium III 999 Ghz, 512 K PC with windows XP
audio: MOTU 2408mk3
midi: steinberg MIDEX8
