Is there an inexpensive way to connect a low-end
Casio keyboard (with MIDI in/out) directly
to a USB hub?

I've got an old Casio that would make a handy
tool for Teach Me Piano etcetera if only I could
plug the Casio into my computer's (WinXP) sound.
My peripherals are all on USB because my computer
stays locked in a distant closet so I never have
to hear its hum. I don't want to run anymore cables
than I already have, but my USB hubs have available
slots.

Can I somehow run the Casixxo MIDI through USB?

Look at a prouduct called 'Midisport 1x1'. It has 1 midi in/1 midi out, and a USB computer interface( it is a hardware box). It sells for around $50
Here is a link to it :

I think this may be what you want. Note you will need the midi cables also.
