View Full Version : A couple of OSX bugs I would like to fix

These are minor, but does anyone have an answer?
•My b&w G3 won't boot until I turn my modem off.
•Can I set up iMail to read my newsgroups? If not, what OSX program can I use?
•My printer (HP 841c) won't print anything off of a website.
•Is there a way in iTunes to convert mp3's to AIFF's as they're being burned to a CD? Right now, I use Audion first to covert, but I wasn't sure if iTunes would do that for you.
Thanx >^-..-^<

Modem, sorry you're using old tech with new tech. Depnding on the manufacturer, you may be stuck with this bug. Another place to go is the Apple Disucssion Groups.
iMail, I dont' use it. I'm still using Entourage for OSX. I just checked the "Help" and couldn't find anythng. There is a section under the OSX Discussion Groups for iApps. Might find some help there.
Don't know about your printer.
Yes, iTunes will convert MP3's to AIFFS on the fly when burning an AUDIO CD. Make sure you're burning and AUDIO CD and not an MP3 CD.

I don't think there is a way to do on the fly conversion of mp3 to aiff or vice versa.
It's a very intensive process and has to happen before you start burning.
On the pc sid eof thinks Windows Media Player can do something similar, but it queues up the songs, does the batch conversion and then burns the cd. It looks like one process, but it doesn't actually burn the disk until all the conversions have been saved to disk in a temp folder.

I'm presently burning an Audio CD from iTunes 3. I'm burning a 45 minute CD in about 6 minutes. No, I'm not using a SuperDrive. I'm using an external TEAC mechanism in a ClubMac enclosure. First time I've tried it. Worked great!

Very cool!
How do the clubmac enclosures connect? Firewire I presume?

Yes, Firewire. I like the old (discontinued) cases. Their new GVP storage with no fan worries me a bit with heat buildup issues. I've been completely happy with their older enclosures.

Yep, itunes does convert on the fly. Just did it last night, and it worked great! Thanks for the tip about making sure the Preference setting is on AUDIO CD and not MP3 CD.
