When you are ready, select in protools File-bounce to disk. Then chose your sample rate and select wav format then chose stereo inter. format

Then I always convert while bouncing. This will give you a stero wav file.

Sorry this is not as thorough as a reply could be. I am at my office and not in front of my PT.

Hope it helps

I usually select convert after bounce. I think you get a little better sound quality. Also be sure to name the file something recognizable when you bounce so it's easy to find.

Convert after bounce? Very cool- Thanks for the tip David, I will try that when I get home.

Why? How? ...How is there an improvement in the sound quality when converting AFTER bouncing? Just curious as i'm relatively new to this and want to pick up the right habits.

How is easy - just select "convert after bounce". As for why, the bounce to disc feature in Pro Tools is a realtime process, so you are asking your processor to do more work in the same amount of time if you convert during the bounce. Doing the conversion afterwards lets your CPU concentrate on just doing the conversion work, and may let it be a little more accurate.

When I bounce to disk (converting while bouncing) I get a supposed wav file which can only be played by Winamp (not WMP 10, or Real Player or MusicMatch Jukebox) and no program can burn it to a CD ( WMP, Winamp, EZCD & DVD Creator). How do I get an ordinary wav file?

For some reason after you convert to a wav file using protools- you need to open the wav file up in some OTHER audio editing application-(Iuse sound forge) You just open it and re-save it- dont dither- dont add effects etc- It will open normal and burn normal now-

I think it has to do with information that protools writes at the front of the wav- Regardless- try saving with another app- it should work-

AbdRahim,
Are you converting at 16 bits? At first I didn't realize this made a difference, but once I started using 16 bits, my wav files easily burn to CD and can be played on anything. I also use stereo interleaved and convert after bounce. No problems at all.

There are at least TWO ways of making a 16 bit wav file that can be imported by nero. I will tell you the easy way.

1) select the audio you wish to make into a wav file (All or or some of your pro tools session)

2)select bounce to disk - set the path, file name and what ever .. blah blah blah and so on

3)You have to set these fields correctly...

file type = .wav
24 or 16 bit = 16 bit
multi mono or stereo interleaved = STEREO INTERLEAVED

the rest of the crap is crap.
