I'm looking for 8 inch studio monitor's that are fun to mix on with accurate lowend.
My budget is 500 dollars.
Been reading on the m-audio bx8a,krk rokits and the mackie mr8
any suggestions?
I record alot of rock and new country
no rap

Monitors are simply for reference. I mix on 5" Yorkville's. It's the translation that counts. Every budget monitor has it's faults and it's benefits. The key is knowing what these weaknesses are and learning to mix appropriately on them. That takes time.
Unless you're going to pay for 100% smooth, flat response monitors and a properly isolated and treated control room, you'll be dealing with those issues.
I mixed for about 5 years on a set of Monsoon ribbon speakers.

I currently mix on the m-audio bx5a monitors and am quite happy with them. They cause me less ear-fatigue than the krk monitors I tried.
Also, plus 1 to what cmchamp said.

I use behringer truth powered monitors and they translate well enough to get a good mix. Once you get to know your speakers, you can mix anything.

I went with the jbl 2328's for 700 dollars.
I'm sure they'll be ok.
The yamaha ns10's are gonna be put up for a while.
I'm tired of guessing at the lowend or switching to my home stereo speakers for the thump.
Just confuses everybody in the room.
If you really have a set of real Yamaha NS10's you might consider selling them. They'll still fetch a decent price on the used market due to their history of being so popular. Not sure how much longer that value will hold.

I'll just hold on to them.

laboroflove - I run the HR824mk2 and they sound fabulous. I have never heard the MR8 unit but I can't imagine it not sounding great with a very good amplifier pushing it..........

ya I've heard the 824 mk1's but not the mk2's. They sound good.
I'm just hoping the jbl's I've ordered sound close to them.
Maybe get them in today.

Haven't mixed anything yet on the jbl 2328's but can almost guarantee they'll be just fine for me.
Great detail all across the spectrum
