Looking for a pair of power monitors in the $400-800 range. Trying to decide between Tannoy Active Reveal, KRK V-6, or used Mackie HR 824's. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks!:)

Go with the used Mackies (assuming you can inspect them first).

jp,

what kind of music are you dealing with?

Would probably buy mackies over ebay, so no chance of inspection. Use for home studio recording: vocals, acoustic & electric, bass, drums. Classic rock, alternative. Thanks:cool:

in that price range, i would probably go for the mackies also, tho i hear they tend to add extra sheen to your mix. i've only heard commercial releases through them and havent had a chance to A/B 'em with my monitors yet, so i might not be the most credible voice for the 824's. However, i do have a producer friend in Germany who swears by them. but then again there are plenty other well known engineers that praise their mackies, most of whose comments you've probably heard/seen anyway...
so i guess i havent helped a great deal. ha ha!
sorry :D
