I have a mac g4 with a maxtor 7200 rpm internal 40 gig hd and 256mb of ram. I use pro tools 001 and I am having trouble recording 8 tracks at once. Even in low latency mode. I am also having a hard time using multiple plugins. I am purchasing the 002 and would like to record 16 tracks at once for live gigs.I was wondering if I would be better off with a glyph firewire Hd or is something else wrong? Also can you use the glyph with different systems such as digi 002 and logic? Any help would be appreciated.

You need a dedicated audio hard drive. That can be additional internal drives (I have 4 for audio), or external firewire drives. Another thing that's holding you back is ram. Ram is cheap right now, get yourself at least a gig!

Hey there, I`m thinking about buying a new mac( Dual 867 g4), but I`ve heard that there is a "hardware" problem that will not allow you to use the digi001 protools LE package. Is that true? Do you know of this happening with a new mac?
I would appreciate any info, rumors, etc.
Thanks!!!

Kenneth:
Yes, there is a problem with the Digi001 and ProTools. Your best bet for finding out the best information, as I'm a big MOTU user, would be to give Sweetwater a call and ask for the moderator of this forum - Michael Eads, or even email him. I'm sure he can help get to the bottom of your questions.

Cory, hey thanks for the reply. Yes, I`ve read alot about it, and it still baffles me why Mac would go and mess up a good thing. I found the digi001 to be a great recording tool, and was hoping to use it on a new mac purchase. Oh well!javascript:smilie(':(')
Thanks again for your message!

Patience! MacWoel SF is just around the corner. Maybe they'll anounce some good news about the MDDs.
