control 24

I cant get my control 24 to work with pro tools 8.
my owners manual said that everything that you need is in the pro tools 8 cd-rom install disk..
when i goto setup-peripherals and click enable in a session ,it says unable to connect and check your connections.
my ethernet cable,which is the appropriate one,is connected to my ethernet card on my pc from the control 24.
I have several different cables for back-up and I,ve tried em all.
Also on my install disk for protools 8 it gives me and option for the command 8 drivers but no option for control 24.
I have no command 8.

I don't know how much help I'll be since I don't own one of these fantastic machines but did you start it up the way the instruction booklet specifically states? I know my PT gives me **** if I don't do it the right way. Another basic question that I'm assuming you followed but you did follow all the steps in the instruction booklet? I know digi is nice and has computer versions in the digidesign folder... I also am not 100% sure if you have to do anything with the core audio manager? That's the same error I usually get though when I don't start the stuff up in the correct way... annoying but it makes sense.

i figured it out.The ethernet adapter went bad even though the computer said it was workin properly.
