View Full Version : Roland S760: SCSI communication with G4s?

Well, maybe I'm the only one still trying to do this, but since upgrading to a G4 533 mhz (Mac OS 9.1) with an ATTO SCSI card, for the life of me I can't get the Mac to see my S760. I've been transferring audio files bidirectionally for years between my Mac (formerly a 9600) and the 760. I've tried a remarkable number of settings on the ATTO; IDs and termination are all good. It's not that. Roland tech support is pretty uninterested, since it's such an old product; ATTO tech support tried to be helpful, but couldn't solve the problem. Two questions:

1. Anyone else discover this, and are you similarly chagrined?

2. I still have my old Adaptec 2940UW SCSI card (not installed). With my 9600 I transferred via the Mac's built-in SCSI chain. BUT--did anyone out there ever transfer from the 760 to a Mac via an Adaptec card? Could I install the Adaptec card in the Mac next to the ATTO, and use it just to transfer files to and from the 760, or is that an incredibly bad idea?

Okay, that's three questions. I realize this is pretty esoteric, but one man's esoterica is another's crisis, as anyone who's ever hung around one of these forums can attest to. Thanks.
