I am considering buying the Rack XT
Right now I'm using 2 LynxTwo-C PCI cards in my current computer, giving me 12 analog in's and 4 out's,, plus 4 digital in's and out's.
I am concerned about the heat and space issue,,
whether the 2 Lynx cards will get to hot, or whether they will fit,, it looks like the video card is right beside the 2 PCI slots and has heat conductors sticking off of it.
Is anyone else using the LynxTwo-C cards in the Rack XT with success, or is it a bad idea, being that the Asus mother board is so packed full of components.
And does the Rack XT have enough fan cooling to keep the Lynx cards from getting to hot. They get pretty hot. To hot to touch.
The people at Lynx tell me that over heating issues are rare, and I also checked that the Lynx cards are Vista 32 bit compatible.
I'm just hoping to get some feed back before I buy the Rack XT,
it sure looks like a great audio computer. Take care :)

You will probably be fine.
We've tested the system with ProTools HD PCI and PCIe cards and had no thermal issues with those. (and they're very long cards, and they run warm)
The Lynx cards shouldn't be an issue.

What I would suggest is that you have us install and test them here. We can set up the system and install the cards. We can have a tech put them on a long recording or playback test and monitor the temps over time. We have space on that machine for an extra 80mm fan. We can also run the fans faster than the factory settings if needed.

I really don't anticipate heat being a problem, but we're happy to work through it with you. Just get in touch with your sales person.

Thank you Justin, for you fast reply
I won't have a chance to call my sales rep now until Monday,, working my butt off over the weekend
that might be a good idea to have the larger fan put in, I was going to put the computer down behind a board thing , under my desk setup, so if it was a bit louder , that probably wouldn't be a problem.
with the 2 lynx cards side by side and sitting right next to the graphic card,, is there going to be enough space? The graphic card looks pretty wide.
I've found a bunch of pictures of that board and now have a good idea of its lay out,
and can those fan speeds be turned up or and down by me later at home?
I am right in the middle of 2 small recording projects, so sending my sound cards up to you guys won't work at the moment. its a good idea though.
Anyway I'll will be reading and looking into everything as much as I can over the weekend at night when I get home.
And I'll call my sales rep as soon as I can,
thanks again ... take care :)

We use single slot cards, so they shouldn't touch the Lynx unless the Lynx card is larger than the normal PCI spec. capacitors or something bulging out the top.

If we had to, on the Rack XT, the video card can be put in the bottom PCIe slot to give you more room.

Yep,, if you could put the video card in the bottom PCIe slot, that would probably be better for the heat and space factors
The LynxTwo-C cards look about normal sized, so that should work out.
and with a bigger case fan(s) for more cooling, I bet it would be fine.
I can live with a bit more fan noise,, I usually place a board with rigid fiberglass or a big cushion thing in front of the computer when I need it to real quiet,, it makes a big difference in what the mic picks up.
I'll be calling my sales rep on Monday
Thanks again Justin:)
