Is there a way to just lift the tracks off a song in the 1680 on to disc so I can transfer them to logic 7. Without playing them 1 track at a time audio out into logic? I've got 5 or 6 projects on the old thing worth sending to logic. I took all effects off so the tracks or dry. Thanks

No can do, unfortunately. There's no way to copy the audio files to another device in the usual sense we think about it - even if you could they'd not be good for much, because they're not WAV files, there's some kind of compression scheme involved.

If your interface for Logic has an s/pdif input, about the best you can do is to connect the digital out on the roland to the digital input of the interface and copy two tracks at a time. It's tedious but it beats having two more steps of conversion, which is what you have if you do it thru audio inputs.

You can sync the two up with MIDI and have the tracks transfer in sync, but it would probably be easier to record something like a pop or tone for reference at the beginning of each track and sync them manually.

There's a thread on the forum that deals with the procedure for Pro Tools, but the process should be similar:

Thanks Steve,
Guess I'll do it the old fashion way. Yes its synced up one is master one is slave. I hit play on the 1680 and logic starts recording. Again thanks.
P.S. Audio out to motu 896. I'm not going to buy another cable just for this. Coming off the heals of purchasing my second Avalon 737 for mastering. Wife wasn't thrilled.
