Wondering

For years I have drooled over my, what I thought to be, amazing Presonus Firepod 10 and the Cubase LE1 software it came with.
Now, after working with several pro systems and studios I am tired of my own rack being held back by the limitations of LE1.
I've been looking at Cubase Essential 4 upgrade from Cubase LE1. Economically it is my favorite and it gets me out of the rut of LE1.
Specifically I am looking for the ability to expand to more that 8 channels for simultaneous recording if I later add another FP10 to my rack.
Also, more channel and master inserts, a multi-band compressor, better reverb vst's and more routing flexibility.
Is this possible in Essential 4 upgrade from LE or do I have to spend more money?
Please say I can be as cheap as I am wanting to be.
