I'm not sure that this is the correct forum, but it looks the closest.

My home studio is as follows:
Mackie 24x8 analog desk
Adats x3 original blackface
Masterlink

A ton of outboard gear.

My new alesis HD24 arrives from Sweetwater today! I am planning on buying the Fireport when it becomes available as well as the 96k upgrade.

I own a pc with a p4 2.2ghz with a 120g hd and 1 meg of ram. It has an off the shelf soundcard and a CD RW drive.

Here is what I'm thinking... I would like to be able to transfer the tracks from the HD24 to the computer to a software program that will let me manipulate the songs....levels, eliminate noise, etc.

Ideally, it would be really cool to be able to mix this on the computer and send it to the masterlink as the mixdown desk. IT would be really cool if this could be done digitally without going back through the Mackie... or at least that sounds neat to me.

I realize that I could have done all my recording on the computer, but honestly, I want to do a lot of remote stuff and the HD24 seemed a better fit.

Software and soundcard suggestions?
Thanks

sorry about the cross posting in the DAW section.
