I'm in the market for a new workstation and I'm trying to decide between the Triton and the Motif. I've heard a few knocks on both boards, and with the type of music I would like to do (Smooth Jazz, R&B, Urban Contemporary and some Hip Hop) which would be the one to go with as far as sounds, ease of use, and scalabilty?

Thanks for your help.

I'd say the Trito would be the one that is used most with this type of music. its certainly the more popular of the two for these styles...

it seems like the triton is used more in every style of music! haha! actually, in the last issue of Keyboard Magazine there was a really good article comparing the "Big 3" -- the Triton (Studio,) the Motif and the Roland Fantom. actually, it wasnt an article at all, but a 30-something page section on the three. they listed everything in the way of features and specs. there were a few opinion-oriented reviews and a side-by-side (uhhhh... by side) comparison chart. you should check it out if you can find one around.
were you looking into getting the Triton or the newer Triton Studio?

I'm looking into the triton studio. I've settled on the ST76 and have a price of 2900.00.
