mbox 2 pro as default sound card

Hello,

I am trying to use my mbox 2 pro as the default sound card on my pc (Windows XP) for use with Tricerasoft Swift Elite 4.0 software for karaoke. I am able to route the audio output to the monitors (connected to the mbox interface), but I can't get any sound from the microphone (shure beta 58A), although both the speakers and mic work properly in protools.

When setting the mbox as the default sound card on my pc through the control panel--> sounds, and running the sound 'test' the green bars do register input from the mic. However, when trying to adjust the sliders in windows for volume/pan etc, only 'wave', 'SW Synth' and, 'cd player' appear in the volume control. Also, still in windows, when I click 'options --> properties --> the mbox appears as the mixer device, but the volume controls are listed only for 'playback' and the 'record' list is empty.

I know the mbox 'hears' the mic because the green light flashes with each sound.

Any ideas what's happening here and how I can get the mic to work in Swift Elite?

I think the functionality you're talking about is when "normal consumer sound cards" with mic and line inputs can mix those analog inputs into the line out. The playback recording controls will have Wave which is normal computer audio, and also things like Microphone and Line-in which is mixed into the line out along with Wave (after Wave's D/A conversion).

The Mbox 2 does this functionality with the physical "Mix" knob. It mixes the computer audio with the input audio for zero latency monitoring. Set it to 12 o'clock and you should be good to go.

EDIT: My mistake, you said Mbox 2 PRO, I have an Mbox 2 standard which has a Mix knob. If any Pro users know of the equivalent function....

Thanks for the clarification, I thought my eyesight was really deteriorating when I couldn't find the 'mix' knob hehe.
